How could I resist an invitation from Lynn Wood at Idea Spies and Professor Anne Bamford both creative power houses to attend the inaugural Creative Thinking Festival. A vibrant celebration of ideas, innovation, and collaboration. Bringing together, policymakers, arts professionals, educators, creative leaders from diverse fields, the festival served as a melting pot of perspectives, united by a shared curiosity about the role of creativity in society and wellbeing.

Throughout the day, participants engaged with crucial themes that sparked reflection and dialogue. Are we losing our creative abilities? Is education eroding the creative spirit? These provocative questions invited us to consider the place of creativity in our lives and communities, challenging us to rethink how we nurture and sustain this vital human quality.

A number of creative workshops from the Solar Punk Island project to elements of design and “agents of provocation”, challenged us to explore ideas, ask questions and encourage deeper thinking and dialogue.

I’m looking forward to seeing the creative thinking report that emerges from the research undertaken throughout the day. The data was collected using our creative outputs and will share some of the outcomes, insights and potential next steps.
