Why is team development important?

Developing a robust and resilient team is challenging and rewarding. It’s essential if you want people to reach their full potential, to contribute fully, and have a positive influence in and on your business.

Teams generally consist of members with different skills, cultures and backgrounds. At times there can be conflict. This conflict needs to be worked with creatively. We do just that. We help teams create totally new perspectives and value diversity. We look at the types of work teams do, the people who do it, and the preferences people have in how they do their work. One of the ways we may begin this process is to use team profiling tools such as Team Management Systems – Team Management Profiles.

Creating a true team spirit

Through coaching and facilitation of teams, we help those who are open, curious, and willing to experiment and take their first bold step towards change and wellbeing.

Undertaking team development workshops will ultimately help your teams improve collaboration, cooperation, and commitment – teamwork – by improving people’s trust, their ability to listen, their sense of belonging and accountability.

“As a relatively new, nationally distributed team, I was looking for someone to facilitate connection, shared values and an alignment in our ways of working and output. Cathryn provided just that – she is business like but fun, has an intuition about the flow and pace of a team building day, is organised, flexible, knowledgeable and professional. We have continued to reflect on our learnings in the weeks that followed our day with Cathryn.”

What’s involved?

Team development opens people’s eyes to the possibilities outside their own perspectives, and has them thinking about the bigger picture and valuing other points of view.

Adopting a co-creative way of working, we innovate our team development service by using arts-based and aesthetic methods such as images, stories, drawing, painting, music, nature, mindfulness, applied improvisation, play and journaling to create a conducive learning environment and promote creative inquiry.

This approach sees teams of all natures working together, enhancing collaboration and cooperation, forming an appreciation of each other and their differences, and valuing each other’s contributions. In turn, this brings about fruitful short- and long-term outcomes for both business and individuals, in terms of productivity and positive wellbeing.

These sessions can be delivered as consecutive whole days, or a series of full or half-days over a few months. We can collaborate in a neutral space, or I can come to your site for some creative in-residence workshops. Whatever best suits you and your availability.

How do you conduct a team development session?

In our team development sessions, we apply a range of highly interactive, participatory processes and methodologies, such as our ‘Artful Inquiry’ methodology, to enable you to dive deep into what it means to work well. This includes the use of drawing, painting, making, prototyping, improvisation, digital facilitation cards, and other such creative approaches to disrupt business as usual attitudes and behaviours and step into a creative mindset. Sessions can be delivered as consecutive whole days, or a series of full or half-days over a few months. We can collaborate in a neutral space, or I can come to your site for some creative in-residence workshops. Whatever best suits you and your availability.
