What happens when a group of professional women gather for something different? A morning dedicated to meaningful connection and real conversations.

The idea for Wired to Connect emerged from a conversation with friend and colleague Emma Cecchin, where we questioned the lack of creative and professional spaces for women to connect in ways that feel authentic. Away from the normal ‘networking’ environment.

We took the idea to Julie Monaghan General Manager at O’Neill Architecture who generously opened their stunning Brisbane office to host the session.

With the Brisbane skyline as our backdrop, we gathered around a table filled with coffee, tea, flowers, imager and breakfast bites.

Noticing – We asked the question – what are you noticing in your world, what is emerging for you professionally, personally, in your workplace, community.

Through a facilitated conversation, curiosity and visual prompts, a range of stories and experiences emerged. What we discovered and the insights we had ranged from –

🧡 Mental load and mental health and wellbeing.
🧡 Navigating hybrid work.
🧡 Building community in workplaces.
🧡 Challenging imposed norms with bravery.
🧡 Reaching out to check in with others.
🧡 Balancing AI’s pros and cons.
🧡 Concern for artists in an AI world.
🧡 Love for the handmade in a technological world.
🧡 Leading with compassion.
🧡Ageing and maturing with purpose.

The conversation was thoughtful and energising, with everyone contributing a unique perspective. It reminded us how quickly connections can form when we create space to share openly.

People commented – this was the highlight of my day, and how good it was to discuss things with a thoughtful group of people, even though many of us were new to each other.

At Maverick Minds we see connection as fundamental to how we can live our lives in a meaningful way.

The intention is to grow Wired to Connect, offering opportunities for professional women to come together in creative and supportive ways. I’m not 100% sure how at this stage…it’s an open chapter.

And if this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, do get in touch.

You may like to host a Wired to Connect in your workplace? If so, let’s connect.

Thanks to the brave ones who came along for our first Wired to Connect.
