Detail from a work in progress – Cathryn Lloyd
Many of you will know that I don’t just talk about creativity – I make art too. From my year-long daily art project mm365, to exhibitions, competitions, and time spent in my studio, making art continues to be an important and joyful part of my life.
Collage is my medium of choice. I’m drawn to how I can bring together fragments – paper, patterns, images, words and reshape them into something new. There’s a certain satisfaction in recycling materials, working with what’s at hand, and letting meaning emerge through play and experimentation. It’s a practice that keeps me curious, grounded, and well.
Ric Kasini Kadour, editor of Kolaj Magazine, expresses why we make art beautifully:
“The act of making art is one of hope… It is wildly hopeful to believe that we can connect to another human being and share meaning with them… fundamentally art is about the human connection.”
It sums it up well for me.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
Going Incognito

I went undercover…well Incognito
They asked, and I accepted their mission – to create original art that remains anonymous until the work has been purchased. Once bought all is revealed.
What’s this about?
The Incognito Art Show is a not-for-profit organisation supporting Australian artists the biggest and most inclusive art show. The Incognito Art Show isn’t an ordinary art sale. Every piece of artwork (A5 in size), regardless of artist, is sold for just $100.
The show’s unique model provides greater access to art-buying for those without the usual means to do so, as well as democratises art selection; buyers buy what they truly love, not a big name.
I love this concept.
Incognito’s Impact goals are –
🎨 To financially support arts organisations with the donation of profits
🎨 To provide emerging artists the opportunity to become professional artists
🎨 To inspire and develop a new generation of art collectors and supporters
🎨 Profits raised go towards funding programs that support artists working with disabilities.
When I’m not doing my other favourite things, working with clients, facilitating and coaching, I’m generally making a bee line to my little home studio.
My sister said I look like I’m 10 years old in this photo. I don’t know about that, but I take it as a great compliment. It tells me I’m doing the right thing – looking after my creative soul.
I wonder what you do to look after your creative soul?
World Collage Day:
A Cut Of Creative Joy

Garland – Cathryn Lloyd
Saturday 10 May marks World Collage Day – a global celebration of collage as a dynamic art form. I’m delighted that my work is part of the festivities in two special ways.
First up, the Kolaj Institute has included me in the cut-out pages of their World Collage Day 2025 Special Edition magazine Kolaj Magazine Special Edition.
Closer to home, my collage piece ‘Garland’ will be part of the Cut & Paste exhibition at The Churn Room in Dayboro, running from 9–25 May. The opening Saturday 10 May coincides with World Collage Day, and Dayboro, just 26 km from Brisbane, is a charming rural village if you’re in the mood for a creative day trip. More on the exhibition here The Churn Room.
Hope to see you there.
June Collage Workshop

Collage is an artform and creative process that involves assembling and combining diverse elements. It might be existing images, drawings, photography, text, textures, patterns and objects. Combined into a new composition it’s a dynamic way to express ideas, emotions, or narratives. Collage allows for contrast, layering, and the unexpected, which gives creators the room to reframe reality and explore new perspectives.
Interested in working with collage as an artform?
I’m co-hosting a collage workshop with fellow artist Kim Price.
