As an artist and facilitator, my recent group “Collage Encounters: Our World in Layers” exhibition at Richard Randall Gallery held special meaning for me. It wasn’t just about displaying my artwork – it was a living example of how creative collaboration can transform both the creators and their audience.
The exhibition felt like a perfect blend of my two worlds. Just as I use creative approaches to help people think differently in my facilitation work, the collage works sparked unexpected conversations and new perspectives among visitors.
What touched me most was watching people engage with the works, seeing them discover connections between pieces, and hearing their interpretations. Each conversation reinforced why I weave creativity into my facilitation practice at Maverick Minds – art has the unique ability to open up new ways of seeing, thinking and being.
Working alongside three other artists reinforced my belief in the power of a shared and collective vision. Our different approaches to collage created a rich tapestry of perspectives, much like the diverse viewpoints I encourage in my facilitation work. This experience has energised both my artistic practice and my approach to organisational development, reminding me that meaningful change often starts with seeing things differently and sharing those diverse perspectives to bring to life something new.
